The Rhgzez Empty The Rhgzez

Spoiler:

The Rhgzez are extremely pale humanoids from the carbon monoxide/methane planet Rhgzenet. They are a proud, hardworking people who are just now taking interest in galactic politics.

History.

The Rhgzez Krieg_Guardsman

Long ago, the Rhgzez were a very human looking race. They united themselves as one nation 500 years ago, and they began to industrialize everywhere. The Rhgzez had highly advanced technology. But their source of fuel, Yirr, a brown/grey mineral so very abundant in the planet, was a very dirty fuel. Although efficient, it destroyed the ecosystem. The air began to change in compounds from oxygen to methane and carbon monoxide gas. Many Rhgzez died, the planet becoming littered with bodies. Gasmasks were issued to those who could get them in time, the military swept the streets with flamethrowers to burn the bodies and kill off disease.

After years of panic and despair, they evolved, being able to breathe the gas. Those who did not evolve permanently had filtering systems built into their lungs or over their mouth/nose. The state of anarchy dissipated, and life moved on. The people of Rhzenet were used to tragedy from early on in their pre-evolved history. By then they had FTL travel, and began a massive trading operation to get food into their planet. They made Rhgzez into a proud factory planet, importing raw resources, refining them, and shipping them back. It worked until they needed to expand again.

The T'Ack'Mul/Rhgzezian war, The siege on Rhgzenet.

The Rhgzez Krieg_Front_Line

56 years ago, the Rhgzez sent their colonization vessels to a nearby starsystem with a planet in prime condition. Their ships turned to enter the atmosphere, when they were fired on. The small transport cruisers were met with huge orbiting defensive platforms that had escaped their radar, as well as some unknown battleships. The whole colonization fleet was destroyed. The Rhgzez people went into an uproar, crying out for blood and vengeance. The peaceful nation rallied it's navy, and from sources from their trading partners found out that the Legion of T'Ack'Mul had fired upon them that day.

The colonization force had entered a claimed T'Ack'Mul not knowing it was already taken. The T'Ack'Mul had not yet met this civilization, and thus they never received the warning that the planet was a militarized zone that no one could enter without warning, and the civilian ships were mercilessly shot down.

The Rhgzezian navy pulled into the colony planet, firing all it's batteries as soon as they slowed down from FTL. The powerful T'Ack'Mul navy pulled around from the other side of the planet, their planetary guns destroyed. As they reached their firing range, the Rhgzezian ships fired huge rocket salvos from their ships. The salvos met the opposing navy and many small ships were critically hit. The battle over Mnok-1 became a brutal stalemate, both navies fighting for survival, knowing only one would come out supreme victor, the other completely destroyed.

They fought endlessly for 2 days, until the T'Ack'Mul ships turned away and descended into the planet. The Rhgzez navy turned away also, low on power and munitions.

The navy came back as heroes, avengers of the innocents on that fateful day they were destroyed over Mnok-1. For a long time the T'Ack'Mul did not speak with any other nations.

After a year of planning, they struck. Wormholes opened up all around the orbiting space of Rhgzenet. The navy was caught off guard, their ships destroyed while in orbital docking. The T'Ack'Mul ships pulled in to fired their nuclear weapons, but massive planet to space laser cannons devastated their ships. The main ships pulled back, and set up a blockade, but the transport ships entered the thick clouds of Rhgzenet. The T'Ack'Mul at first were a demoralizing opponent to the shaken Rhgzezian army. But they learned that their army's tactics were based off attrition and locking their opponents in a mellee brawl that they could not win.

They exploited the fact that the T'Ack'Mul themselves were oxygen breathing lifeforms, and took to arms. The invasion of Rhgzenet failed horribly for the T'Ack'Mul, they established a beach head, and gained much ground, taking prisoners and executing anyone who resisted. But fearful and efficient they might be, the huge factory sectors, slums, and cities were unfamiliar to the crustaceans. Not only that, but once their suit was pierced and the water drained, they died from the toxic fumes.

The Legion called off it's siege, needing it's navy elsewhere. They left the planet of people they thought as inferior, dirty, and stupid in the shame of defeat. The people of Rhgzez cheered in the streets, the army paraded the cities and the golden age of Rhgzenet began.

Re-colonization.
Attempting colonization a second time, but checking with other empires to see if the planets were truly empty, they acquired a mineral rich atmosphere-less planet, and a planet composed of huge plains and large seas. Although they had pride in their homeplanet, the pioneers vowed to use clean energy acquired from other civilizations and not destroy the whole planet's ecosystem as they did with Rhgzenet. Rhgzezians became more popular as they expanded, their trademark gasmasks earning them titles such as "soot-lungs", "filter-heads", and "death-breathers".

The Rhgzez's most renown person outside of their culture is Doctor Vankor Daas, who's radical changes in laser weapon technology in the Rhgezian army lead to the formation of DAAS Laser Weapons Universal.

They are at good terms with the Human government.

Anatomy

Rhgzezians are 5-6 foot tall, extremely pale humanoids. Because of high amounts of gravity on their planet, they are at average 5'5''. They have a bulky skeletal structure composed of a completely different mineral than that of calcium, a denser form of boron. Because of this, they can take blunt force better than creatures with calcium composed skeletal structures. An analogy would be like, someone hitting you over the head with a bat would be like a punch in the face to them.

Most Rhgzez are shorter, stocky people, but it's not uncommon for a Rhgzez to be taller if he or she is born on another planet.

They require gasmasks as oxygen kills them, and some even have a constant wheeze or rasp when they breathe. Their eye colors ranged from dark brown to a deep red color. Hair is based on genetics. It's always dark brown or black, but most Rhgzezians are completely hairless, the ones who do have hair have it very short, not beyond 3-4 inches on their head.

Average lifespan: 80

Culture

The Rhgzez are a very friendly and proud people. Their culture is a rich one, with music, songs, and epics from long ago. They believe in working hard, generosity, and treating all equally. Because of this, most of the Rhgzez as a whole are very welcoming and considerate. On top of that racism was a non-existant term in their language until they made contact with other space empires, meaning that a racist Rhgzez is extremely rare. Their official religion is Prechyabotnik, a dual-God religion that says there are two Gods, one that conspires against all living things, and one that preserves it. Their language is similar to the Eastern Slavic languages on former Earth.

This also has my approval. A few other approvals and I'll make it canon. However, Earth doesn't have any formal ties yet with aliens, in fact as far as Earth is concerned first contact hasn't been made yet.
